Obituary of Calliope Holiasmenou

Calliope “Poppy” Holiasmenou, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022, at the age of 73 from the complications of diabetes. Born in Greece on March 3, 1949, she moved to the USA in 1965, eventually settling in Merritt Island. She is survived by her children Karen Lee Hallam of New York City and Robert H. Hallam IV of Merritt Island; her mother, Mary Chapelle of Cocoa Beach, her sister, Helen Chapelle of Cocoa Beach; and granddaughter Luna Hallam of Merritt Island; grandsons Sojourner and Aeon Kossi of New York City. Poppy was a caring and compassionate person who savored life, and a proud grandmother, who loved her family. As a fine artist, she saw beauty everywhere. She was a small business owner, along with her partner Nick, in operating the MOON HUT in Cape Canaveral. Always smiling, Poppy was a shining light and a giver to the end. Her life will be celebrated with close family and friends in a private ceremony in Cocoa Beach.
