Obituary of Aaron Silas Baker

Viera, FL – Aaron Silas Baker, 22, of Viera, Florida, passed away from this life on earth on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He is survived by his parents, Barry and Tamela, of Melbourne, FL; sister, Hannah, of Cocoa, Florida; sister, Abigail, of Melbourne, FL; grandparents Silas and Fran, of Rockledge, FL; Uncle Kurt and Aunt Trish, of Plainsboro, NJ; Uncle Billy and Aunt Lee, of Bridgeton, NC; Uncle Leroy and Aunt Anda, of Morehead, NC; Aunt Pam, of Washington, NC; Uncle Leroy, of Washington, NC; Aunt Cissie, of Bridgeton, NC, and a legion of cousins. Aaron was an honors graduate of Viera High School and a 4-year member of the Academy of Communication, Art, and Design. Aaron had attended the University of South Florida until the pandemic required him to return home. He was planning on finishing his college education and obtaining his undergraduate degree at Eastern Florida State College in the fall of 2022. Aaron was a blessing to his parents; he was always respectful, caring, and a child that was quick to lighten their hearts with his intellectual wit and soften their hearts with his compassionate and sensitive nature. Although Aaron was younger than his sister Hannah, he always had something new to teach her. She enjoyed Aaron’s knowledge of interesting facts, and very much loved the debates they would get into on a variety of topics every time they would get together. Hannah treasures the time they spent attending the same university together at USF. He was a loving brother to his youngest sister Abigail, always teaching her as well. He taught Abigail to think of others first, and how life was so much more than material things. Aaron never failed to make his two sisters laugh; with his in-depth and endless imagination, there was never a dull moment. Aaron always protected his two sisters and was always there to lend advice or to make them smile through their tears. His longtime girlfriend, Isabelle, remembers Aaron as the person she enjoyed making new memories and experiencing new things with. He was her shoulder to lean on and a voice of reason. Someone who was always understanding and empathetic to others. He taught Isabelle the importance of family and to spread kindness to all through actions. Above all, Aaron was Isabelle’s first true love, a love that didn’t need to be defined and is limitless. Aaron loved his family deeply and knew he was loved deeply by them. Aaron was a loyal, loving, caring, and sincere friend to those who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a beautiful smile and distinctive auburn hair. He had a profound ability to sense the needs and emotions of others and would do and say what he could to make them happy and comforted. Aaron truly put others he cared about before himself and was not one to raise his voice, show or harbor anger to others, or think negatively about anyone. He always looked for the good in people and sought to heal and nurture relationships. A talented musician, Aaron enjoyed playing acoustic and electric guitar and listening and playing music from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, CCR, and other classic bands, as well as intellectual folk singers such as Bob Dylan and James Taylor. With his broad appreciation of music from almost any genre, he also enjoyed music from Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Aaron treasured the family’s two Maltese dogs, Jedi and Obi. Jedi is a kindred spirit to Aaron in many ways, and Obi a playful and uplifting companion. Both brought him joy and they miss him dearly. While he truly was an “old soul” when it came to music, he was also “born older” as demonstrated often in his ability to process complex layers of thinking from a very young age. Just one example of many was when he was 3 years old, he had, in his father’s opinion, reached his quota on fruit snack packs, especially going into the evening when sugar is not a friend of sleep for small children. His father told him “Aaron, you’ve had enough of those, and it’s too close to bedtime.” Minutes later, the pantry door could be heard slowly opening as well as the familiar crinkling sound of the package as another fruit snack was being retrieved. Aaron then presented himself to his father, held the small package out and pointed to the nutritional information on the back (completely unintelligible to a 3-year-old) and said, “Look Daddy, it says right here, eat at night!” That extreme intelligence carried over into his young adult life. His grandfather, a real rocket scientist, was always impressed with Aaron’s ability to discuss and understand many topics such as international conflicts, sociology, space travel, and history. Grandpa Sy considers Aaron one of his best friends. Aaron had recently confirmed his faith in God during a family vacation and again to a longtime friend and confidant who shared with us his expressed belief. His grandfather authored a book on the genealogy of the Baker family. In the epilogue, the following is included: “It is time now for others to carry on. No words can be better than those of six year old Aaron Silas Baker’s blessing at his father’s birthday dinner; concluding a beautiful litany of subjects that included family, sick people, our troops in Iraq, storm victims, etc., Aaron stated, ‘…and, please, may all our family go to Heaven…(he paused)…at the right time.” While many will have the first impression that “the right time” was not at such a young age, we are reminded as the scripture tells us: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9). And “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28). While Aaron’s family is deeply saddened by his passing, we also take great comfort with Aaron’s place in heaven where he has joined other family members and friends while he awaits a reunion for eternity with us in God’s Heavenly Kingdom. While he is no longer dwelling in his mortal body on earth, his spirit is with us always until we see him again. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Aaron at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Suntree United Methodist Church, 7400 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32940.
