Obituary of Charles Conrad Christensen

Charles “Chris” Christensen, age 90, of Florida, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 2, 2022. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Enrica (Zucchini) Christensen. Born in Miami, Florida in March of 1931, he was the son of the late Alfred M. Christensen and his stepmother, Jean Christensen. After graduating from Ponce de Leon High School, Charlie, as known by family, joined the Navy at 17 years of age. While stationed in London, England, he married the love of his life in April of 1952, and they started a family. Chris was a true sailor and served his country well while stationed on two submarines and many ships, including the USS Clamagore, the USS Chopper, and the USS Hermitage. He continued his service teaching Communications at the Little Creek Amphibious Base until he retired. Chris rose through the ranks becoming the youngest Lieutenant Commander to ever retire from the Navy in 1969. After retirement, Chris became a successful real estate broker opening Little Creek Realty in Norfolk, Virginia and accomplished many other prosperous commercial and residential real estate ventures. Being self-made, motivated, and disciplined, Chris was known for being an officer and a gentleman. Upon his return to Florida, Chris settled in Cocoa Beach where he worked as the Chairman of the Board of Adjustments. He continued his adventures by taking his family on many trips around the world and enjoyed hosting large family reunions throughout the years. Chris will be honored by many for his dedication and generosity towards others. He is quoted saying that his greatest accomplishment was “marriage and my children, as living happily is an adventure.” Mr. Christensen leaves behind his loving wife, Enrica. He was father to four children, Michael Christensen (Elaine), Greta Young (Roy), Michele Mohr (Ronald), and Gregory Christensen (Barbara). He is also survived by his half-sisters, Linda Fore (Dave) and Jackie Corkhill (Tim), 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort that he is now free of pain and has returned home. Chris will be buried at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida on March 10, 2022 at 9:15 AM followed by a private celebration of life at The Tides Club, PAFB. Funeral arrangements have been made by Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes in Cocoa Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project or Disabled American Veterans Charity.
